Bio

A bit about me...

Since arriving in NYC in the 1980’s, I have worked in a variety of companies including advertising, the financial sector, the music industry and corporate law. After the events of 9/11, I left the corporate world and I began a travel photography and curating endeavor. To date, I have visited and explored over 40 countries worldwide where through “spontaneous portraiture” I aim to capture the everyday lives of ordinary people — in extraordinary ways. On those special and rare occasions, an open and intuitive connection occurs between subject and photographer — within a fraction of a second. I have been blessed to experience this connection a handful of times and in doing so, capture a timeless and meaningful image.

In 2013, when I began working as a recruiter, I realized I had a feel for the work and that I enjoyed connecting with a variety of participants. So in 2018, I decided to open my own agency: Collective Insight Research.

During my travels to distant and unfamiliar countries, I have occasionally found myself in a position of vulnerability when interacting with the locals.  An internal dialogue takes place where I ask myself:  Will they trust me? Will they accept me? And in some situations — will they help me? I find this inner dialogue also takes place when I am recruiting for a new project.

My approach to recruiting is similar to searching for buried treasure: I use a map, a compass and my instincts to navigate to the intended destination. It takes time to find the actual treasure and sometimes we are forced to change course due to shifting circumstances. However, I have found it is important to bend in the wind, so as not to break. I believe the unique and inspiring experience I have had as a traveler and a portrait photographer have helped me greatly as a recruiter.  Recruiting is not a one-size-fits-all endeavor, and I do not treat it as such. Each new project is a challenge – that my team and I are more than ready to embrace!
